ROBERT MONTEITH'S MK5 GOLF

 We've seen Robert Monteith, or Bert as he's known around for a while in this seriously low mk4 golf - he's been running it static at only a couple inches of the ground. But he fancied a change, and started building this tasty mk5 at the start of the year.

Going for something a bit different this time. Robert went for an airride setup, all the way from America he went for Bagyard Supremes in the front and rear with Bilstein rear shocks and Accuair Switchspeed management. All fitted by Stance Dog owner John Peden.

Those striking white wheels that really make this car sit a part from the rest are 18” Mercedes Carlson alloys. 9" up front and 10" in the rear. He's even fitted a GTI front brake set-up. And to fit all that in the arches, he's extended them out.

The entire car, with the wheels and engine cover included have been sprayed in Lamborghini Matt White (Bianco Canopus). Exterior work also includes a Genuine GTI front bumper which has been smoothed, a Genuine front grill which has been smoothed and a Genuine R32 rear bumper with a custom shortened plate recess and bumper smoothed together. Then Robert has fitted R32 exhaust tips.

Also on the exterior we've got a fully smoothed boot lid, GTI side skirts, Roof aerial removed and smoothed, Bonnet smoothed, door mouldings removed and smoothed, rear wiped removed and front aero wipers. I think you'll agree, this car's pretty smooth...

With most car's we'd stop there. But not this one, inside Robert has installed genuine R32 Recaro Cs front seats and a genuine GTI headliner with handles and lights. He's even removed the back seats for a custom boot build. Then absolutely everything has been covered in that awesome Ferrari Red Leather with Diamond stitching.

He's even custom painted the Air Tank and hardlines in the awesome Lamborghini Matt White and fitted his hardlines with special red bulk head fittings.

We've featured a few golfs here on ILB, but this one again shows that you can do something new and original with a car that some might say have been done to death. We disagree and love what Robert has done to his.
